Working software
over a good story.

There's no romantic origin story, no garage, no sleepless nights: we simply love our work and get a great deal of pleasure out of it every day. Daan and Evert met through projects in location strategy and revenue forecasting. The collaboration worked so well they decided to make a company of it.
We'd much rather build robust spatial algorithms than worry about slick web design, which you can probably tell from our obsession with terminal windows.
We do enjoy talking with our clients and partners, but we don't like nonsense. No polished slide decks or unnecessary padding; we'd rather get to the point. From that straightforward mindset, we built the foundation of The Big Data Company: IRIS, our location strategy platform. Since then we've taken on a wide range of data challenges, always with the same pragmatic approach.
The team at the table with you.
Direct access to the minds building your system. You collaborate straight with the engineers and scientists translating your data into insights.

Daan
Location Strategy & Algorithmic Decision-Making
CEO & Co-founder. Assistant Professor at Utrecht University. Researches how organisations make decisions and where human intuition fails them completely. Bridges theory and practice, and has a deep-seated allergy to AI buzzwords.

Evert
Software Architecture & Location Systems
CTO & Co-founder. Senior Software Engineer and the architect behind our platform. Built the full infrastructure and data pipelines from the ground up. And if you hate the retro ASCII art on this website: Evert is your man.

Rico
Geospatial Pipeline Engineering
MSc Computer Science, TU Delft. Writes robust code to keep our geospatial systems scalable, stable, and relentlessly online. Reachable at virtually any hour to fix a pipeline, whether he's on a train with his laptop or mid-way up a mountain.

Ruben
Predictive Modeling & Spatial Analytics
MSc Econometrics, VU Amsterdam. Optimises networks and operations through demand modelling and predictive analytics. Brutally honest (sometimes a touch too much) and applies Brazilian jiu-jitsu principles at work: he forces unruly data into the right shape.

Lucas
User Experience & Data Visualization
MSc Econometrics, VU Amsterdam. Specialist in spatial analytics and catchment analysis. Sees the world purely in coordinates, polygons, and distance-decay curves rather than physical streets. Outside office hours, he swaps that data for a sharp rhythm on the rowing machine.

Janine
Cloud Infrastructure & MLOps
MSc Mathematics, VU & MSc Applied Data Science, UU. Translates heavy statistical models into actionable results. Works with extreme precision and patience, whether she's fine-tuning algorithms or explaining the perfect sourdough chemistry as a former baker.
Young talent goes straight into real projects.
We enjoy working with young talent, you'll often find working students and graduates at our office. We don't just train them into data scientists, engineers or developers; we put them straight to work on real projects. By getting them involved from day one out of university, we keep our own thinking fresh and the next generation learns directly how to make an impact with software.
We don't chase short-lived AI hypes. We build software designed to last, preferably for and with organisations that, like us, care about people and society.
We're based at incubator UtrechtInc on the Science Park. A central location in the Netherlands, with fundamental knowledge right around the corner. And let's be honest: if you spend your days building spatial models to determine the optimal location, you naturally know exactly where you should be.
Small enough to move fast.
Deep enough to be right.
